About the Artist

An artist of unparalleled popularity in today’s collectibles market, Lena Liu’s universal yet personal character in her paintings are enjoyed by art lovers the world over. Beautiful birds, tranquil
landscapes, breathtaking florals and musical still lifes are among her collectors’ favorites. Lena has been painting since early childhood and her works can now be enjoyed across various media
including limited edition prints, collector’s plates, cards, calendars and music boxes.

She has often achieved recognition in national shows and exhibits including Artist of the Year. Her collector plate was awarded Plate of the Year and she has also been awarded Canadian Artist of the Year. Lena had her first painting lessons as a child in Taiwan under the guidance of renowned painters and professors. She came to the United States in 1970, studied architecture at the University of Buffalo and later did graduate work at UCLA. Her true passion for painting never left her and in 1977 she began to paint full time. Today she resides with her husband Bill in Maryland in a home designed to accommodate their joint love of art, music and nature.

In describing her work Lena explains:
“I strive to create a sense of poetry and music in my painting like a beautiful song or poem, with that sense of romance… I let what touches my heart pass trough my fingers.”
